Guru’s most recent role is on NBC’s OUTSOURCED as the tall fixture, Ajeet. He played an intimidating yet serious presence in a comical environment.
Born in Houston Texas, Guru’s introduction to acting was during his High School’s version of ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’ playing the supporting role of Chief Bromden. His love for acting poured into his college career. In University, Guru completed a Bachelor of Arts in Acting and Directing from the University of Houston. Performing in the University productions like Comedy of Errors, Childe Byron, and My Fair Lady. It was at University of Houston where Guru began Directing as well. After University, Guru Co-Founded the South Asian Acting Troupe, Shunya, where he starred in numerous plays (Hayavadana, Reincarnation) and directed very heavy drama’s including Indian wants the bronx, which delt with the extreme difficulty of the Indian diaspora to the united states. Next Guru Directed the politically charged, Final Solutions by Mahesh Datani, which dealt with the violence towards Muslims during the Gujarat Riots in 2002. He also staged some memorable performances of Los Vendidos and This is Our Youth.
Finally, Guru decided to follow his passion. He moved to Los Angeles to pursue Acting and Directing to its fullest. Currently, Guru is completing his training at Improv Olympic and performing with different improv groups.
